Sitting pretty on the foothills of towering peaks in the state’s Garhwal region, Madhyamaheshwar (also known as Madhmaheshwar) is a revered religious site. One of the Panch Kedars (holy temples dedicated to Lord Shiva), Madhyamaheshwar is located in the Mansoona village, district of Rudraprayag and is steeped in mythology and folklore.
The middle (Madhya) or navel of the bull, considered a divine form of Shiva, is worshiped at this temple. Bhima, the second Pandava brother is believed to have built this temple and worshiped Shiva here. To the right of the main temple, there is a small temple where the marble image of Saraswati is installed in the sanctum.
To reach the temple, visitors and pilgrims embark on a tedious 24-km-long trek. This arduous hike, however, is worth the effort as visitors are treated to uninterrupted views of green land and surrounding mountains. The temple stands opposite the Chaukhamba, Neelkanth and Kedarnath mountain peaks.
These are the spots to go in Kedarnath place to get away from the crowds and have a good time. These destinations provide beautiful views as well as the opportunity to partake in religious rites.
