Kedarnath Temple located in the Rudraprayag district of the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is situated in the Garhwal Himalayan range at an altitude of about 3,583 meters (11,755 feet) above sea level. The town is famous for its ancient Kedarnath Temple, which is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas.
Itinerary
Day 1:
Start your journey from your place of origin and make your way to the town of Sonprayag, which is the base for the trek to Kedarnath. You can reach Sonprayag by road or by train to nearby towns like Rishikesh or Haridwar, followed by a road journey.
Check into a hotel or guesthouse in Sonprayag and rest for a while.
In the afternoon, begin your trek from Sonprayag to Gaurikund. The trek is approximately 19 kilometers long and takes around 7-8 hours to complete. Enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way, and take breaks as needed.
Once you reach Gaurikund, check into a guesthouse or accommodation and relax for the evening
Wake up early in the morning and have breakfast.
Start your trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath, which is around 19 kilometers long and takes about 7-8 hours to complete. The trek is a bit challenging, but the stunning views of the surrounding mountains make it worthwhile.
On reaching Kedarnath, visit the Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Take your time to explore the temple complex and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
After visiting the temple, you can explore the nearby attractions such as Bhairavnath Temple, Shankaracharya Samadhi, and Gandhi Sarovar.
Overnight stay in Kedarnath in a guesthouse or accommodation.
Wake up early in the morning and attend the morning prayers at the Kedarnath Temple.
Afterward, begin your descent from Kedarnath to Gaurikund. The downhill trek usually takes around 4-5 hours.
Once you reach Gaurikund, you can rest for a while and then proceed towards Sonprayag.
From Sonprayag, you can either head back to your place of origin or extend your trip by exploring nearby attractions like Triyuginarayan Temple, Rudraprayag, or other destinations in Uttarakhand.
