Badrinath, a significant pilgrimage site for Hindus, is known for its temple dedicated to Lord Badri (Vishnu). Devotees visiting Badrinath often participate in various pujas and rituals to seek the blessings of the deity. Some of the special pujas and rituals at Badrinath include:
- Ved Pathshala Puja: Devotees can participate in the Ved Pathshala Puja, where Vedic scholars chant hymns and verses from the ancient scriptures. This puja is believed to bring spiritual enlightenment and blessings.
- Charan Paduka Puja: The footprints of Lord Badri are worshipped in this ritual. Devotees seek the blessings of the divine feet, and it is believed to wash away sins and bring good fortune.
- Maha Abhishek Puja: This grand ritual involves the ceremonial bathing of the deity with various sacred items such as milk, yogurt, honey, ghee, and holy water from the Ganges. It is performed early in the morning and is considered highly auspicious.
- Geet Govind Path: The chanting of Geet Govind, a Sanskrit composition by the poet Jayadeva, is believed to please Lord Badri and invoke his divine blessings.
- Yagna and Havan: Special yagnas and havans (fire rituals) are conducted in the temple premises. Devotees can participate in these ceremonies to offer prayers and seek divine blessings.
- Brahma Kapal: Located near the temple, Brahma Kapal is a sacred place where devotees perform rituals for their ancestors. It is believed that performing Shraddha (rituals for the deceased) at this spot helps the souls attain salvation.
- Panch Badri Yatra: Some devotees undertake the Panch Badri Yatra, visiting all the five Badri shrines in the region – Badrinath, Yogadhyan Badri, Bhavishya Badri, Vriddha Badri, and Adi Badri – to seek the complete blessings of Lord Badri.
