Kedarnath, a prominent Hindu pilgrimage site in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, primarily celebrates two major festivals
Shivratri:- This is the most significant festival celebrated at Kedarnath. It usually falls in February or March. Devotees throng the temple to worship Lord Shiva on this auspicious day. Special rituals, prayers, and offerings are made to the deity.
2. Opening and Closing Ceremonies:-While not traditional festivals, the opening and closing ceremonies of the Kedarnath temple mark important events. The temple opens for the six-month pilgrimage season around late April to early May, and it closes for the winter months around late October to early November. These ceremonies involve elaborate rituals and attract a significant number of pilgrims.
Apart from these, the region also witnesses other regional festivals celebrated by the local communities, but Shivratri and the temple’s opening and closing ceremonies are the most notable events at Kedarnath.
