Reach Haridwar or Rishikesh: Start your journey by reaching either Haridwar or Rishikesh. These are well-connected cities in Uttarakhand and serve as major transportation hubs.
By Road: From Haridwar or Rishikesh, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Gaurikund. Gaurikund is the last road head before Kedarnath, and vehicles are not allowed beyond this point.
Trek to Kedarnath: From Gaurikund, you have to trek to Kedarnath. The trek is approximately 16 to 19 kilometers long, depending on the specific route you take. It’s a steep and challenging trek, so be prepared with appropriate clothing, footwear, and provisions.
Pony/Doli Services: If you’re unable to trek, you can also hire ponies or doli (palanquin) services at Gaurikund to carry you to Kedarnath. However, availability may vary, and it’s advisable to book in advance during peak seasons.
Helicopter Services: There are helicopter services available from places like Phata, Sersi, and Guptkashi to Kedarnath. These can significantly reduce travel time and effort.
